Stay Safe and Stay Safe Managers

We thrive on working with clients to solve new challenges for program design, technical deployment, and project logistics. We are in this business because we love it and that makes us very good at what we do.

Instructional design is fundamental to every Yardstick eLearning project.

It is all about building the foundation before you create the rest of the house. Our projects follow our time-tested, corporate Instructional Design Life Cycle, which makes use of specific checkpoints and signoffs to ensure every project stays on track and delivers an eLearning product that meets or exceeds our clients’ expectations.

CSTD Award Winners

Yardstick won an unprecedented three awards with the Canadian Society of Training and Development (CSTD) in 2013. Along with our Alberta Health Services (AHS) client, we received a silver award for E-Learning, a silver award for Blended Learning, and a WOW! award for training innovation. Judges noted that our design “maximizes opportunities for interactivity and engagement.”

Our team is experienced in the steps necessary to create a program that meets rigorous design and production requirements common to a variety of award programs. As part of the project, we often help our client team prepare award applications.

Instructional Design

Our Instructional Design methodology is a pedagogical approach that begins with analysis and is centered around the creation and evaluation of learning objectives. These objectives are measurable statements of what the learner will be able to do after successfully completing the testing and training . While most courses include content at a knowledge level, higher-level objectives such as application, synthesis, and evaluation may also be addressed.

SCORM Compliant

SCORM stands for ‘sharable content object reference model’ and is a set of industry standards used by learning management systems (LMS) and eLearning programs. Using SCORM, our eLearning programs and Yardstick T2 platform will automatically handle module prerequisites, accurate tracking of learner data, and bookmarked progress throughout a course

Gamification Solutions

We use gamification techniques to engage learners and increase eLearning interactivity. This might include an immersive first-person perspective, making learners an integral part of the training outcome. Or perhaps a game board test, an interactive token tracker, or digital badges for sharing between work sites (or on social media). Gamification helps connect learning to on-the-job performance, making the experience credible and memorable.

Mobile Solutions

Using our responsive development framework, your courses can function on tablets, phones, and desktops. Learners with a broad range of devices and browsers will have access to a single source of content no matter how they access the eLearning. We can also create downloadable versions of eLearning programs to run off-line (e.g., from a truck, camp, or other remote location), and then reconnect to the T2 Platform for course testing, tracking, and completion.

3D Immersive Development

Imagine learning about a new technology, the inner workings of a human heart, or a complex job procedure in a 3D space from your computer or tablet. With 3D immersive technology you can run training simulations of hazardous situations, role-play human interactions, or teach the use of complex machinery in a zero risk environment.

Video, Photography, & Voice

Custom media and voiceover narration are useful for providing examples, telling stories, and connecting the training to the learner’s environment. Whether still photos, video clips, graphics, or animations – the key is to provide a visual reference for learning and to personalize programs to the your organization. We can create programs for English speakers, English as a Second Language (ESL) learners, or in other languages such as French, Spanish, or Arabic.
